Now in its 6th year, Do It In Durham is Durham Region’s celebration of Global Entrepreneurship Week which takes place around the globe from Nov 12-18th, 2018
“The idea behind Do It In Durham was to create a series that celebrated entrepreneurship, showcased the many resources that are available to new and existing businesses in this area and brought our entrepreneurial community together”, says Teresa Shaver, Executive Director of the BACD (Business Advisory Centre Durham). “There is a great opportunity for businesses within Durham Region to prosper and we wanted to bring awareness to Durham Region to encourage growth and business investment for the future of the region and Do It In Durham is one building block towards that growth”, says Teresa.
Do It In Durham is a collaboration and while BACD is the lead coordinator for this week BACD works with strategic partners to put this week of events together which includes the local Chambers and Boards of Trades; municipality economic development departments; and business co-working spaces throughout the Region.
During the Do It in Durham week (November 12 – 18) there are over 50 business events (most of which are free) covering a range of business topics to give businesses a chance to expand their knowledge as well as their network. The events are held throughout the Durham Region giving everyone a chance to attend an event that relates to their business.
“It certainly is a busy week” says Teresa, “but it is fun week and we see many friendships and synergies forming between the attendees as the week continues. By the Do It In Durham Wrap Up event on Friday afternoon, connections have formed that often turn into collaborative opportunities for businesses. Collaboration brings strength to the entrepreneurial community and that’s why Do It In Durham started!”, adds Teresa.
Do It In Durham Entrepreneurship Week takes place between November 12 to 18th and is one week business owners and entrepreneurs in Durham Region do not want to miss.
